Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP) is a new program which began accepting applications in April of 2009. It allows a home or business owner to finance 100% of a solar system over 20 years, after State rebates. The financing is added to the owners property taxes. The big benefits include the owner receiving a 30% Federal tax credit immediately, and "fixes" the utility cost for electricity produced by the solar system over the life of the system.
Synergy can also finance the State rebate to maximize cash flow. With selected module manufactures, Synergy can finance the State rebate as a direct cost reduction of the solar modules. Since the State rebate can not be financed as part of the SCEIP, this means a customer does not need to come up with this expense, and wait up to 6 weeks after installation to receive their State rebate. The rebate is assigned directly to the manufacturer and finance at no charge for up to 90 days. Synergy will manage the rebate process, paperwork and the rebate procurement.
